“… Dervla Murphy‘s latest book tells of spending months living in Israeli settlements and refugee camps in the Palestinian territories.”

(from… : )

“In all the countries I’ve visited, that is the only one where I felt it was my actual duty as a writer not to be neutral. Not to play this game of, we must look at this, look at that. We must only look at the fact that the Palestinians are treated utterly outrageously. But each side must relinquish a dream in return for peace: the one-state solution is the only answer.”

raja shehadeh (presented by zeinab badawi) (in the hardtalk series)

Zeinab Badawi talks to the award-winning Palestinian author and lawyer Raja Shehadeh. For three decades he has written many books about human rights and the Israeli occupation.
His family were forced to leave Jaffa in 1948 and settled in Ramallah on the West Bank, where he lives today.
He says he hopes his work has helped further the cause of peace but has it?”
(0:16:46) “Moshe Dayan, after the occupation, said [Badawi: “that was the Minister of Defence years ago?”], Minister of Defence, said Israel is now an empire

… this repeats a passage from shehadeh’s new book, Language of War, Language of Peace: Palestine, Israel and the Search for Justice (2015, Profile Books):

After Israel’s victory in the June War of 1967, Moshe Dayan, the Minister of Defence, had declared that Israel was now an empire.”

from her interruption, it is clear that interviewer zeinab badawi was already familiar with this quotation

however, other sources place the quotation as being from an israel radio interview of 12th february 1952 (whether this is true, i have been unable to verify … but shehadeh’s dating of it to 1967 is clearly an invention)
